Richard Phillips

Rich was born July 25th, 1962, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Jan Neely and Donald Phillips. He passed away at home October, 30th, 2025.
Rich grew up in the heart of Murray City where he went to school and found a bundle full of life long friends. He played for the Murray High School Hockey team, after graduating he stuck around with the team to help coach. After the good ol' days Rich settled into a career of sales and office supplies, where he drove his big brown chevy and his little green neon from every end of the Salt Lake Valley making one of a kind relationships with clients far and wide.
If Rich wasn't at home or working you could find him camping, hunting, or fishing at the infamous "Elk Camp" or the Green River where he would be accompanied by his favorite companion Hudson (his most loyal hound dog), or many friends and family. He also enjoyed reading, and knew a thing or two about drawing. He often spent weekends with his Mom making sure she was never lonely taking weekend trips to Vernal to see family, and to find the best lunch specials around.
Rich did not have any children of his own but did not hesitate to bring Landon and Kylee into his life when when he married in 1997. Even though he was only married a short time he continued to be part of their lives where he showed up to every school program, dance recital, T-ball, and soccer game.
In the early 2000's Rich became intertwined into the world of competitive soccer. He soon became president of West Wind Soccer Club and with the help of many turned the league into Razzia Futbol Club and was running president until 2015. On top of running the club he had the pleasure of coaching his own team of loyal and talented players through hundreds of games, Murray Max Cups, and Park City competitions for years to come.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date in Rich's honor.

He is survived by, Landon Howa (Kat), and Kylee Howa, his sister Lisa Bolton (Rick), his nephews, Ashton Hildreth (Emily), Riley Bolton (Natalie), his niece Addison Hildreth, his cat Ol' Feral, and many loving aunts, uncles, and crazy loving cousins Mike Glezos, Joe Longson, Jill Johnson, and Michaell Jackson.
Rich is preceded in death by his mother Jan, his father Don, his sister Robyn, and grandparents: Bill and Betty Neely, Donald T and Ellen Phillips.
