Richard A. Plucker, age 91, of Newark, DE, and formerly of Thousand Oaks, CA, passed away on Monday, September 29, 2025.

Born in Reading, PA on April 1, 1934, he was a son of the late Herbert A. and Ida (Burkert) Plucker. Richard attended Reading High School in Reading, PA, where he and his future wife went to the prom together and graduated from in 1952. He then enlisted in the United States Air Force where he proudly served for the next 8 years. Richard moved to California where he spent 12 years serving in the Air National Guard. While in California, he worked for Hughes Aircraft retiring in 1989 after 17 years of dedicated service as a development engineer. In 1998, Richard returned to Delaware to enjoy his retirement.

Richard enjoyed spending his free time working in his vegetable garden. He took great delight in sharing his harvest with his neighbors as well as the Food Bank. Richard looked forward to baseball season every year to cheer on the Philadelphia Phillies. His greatest memories were made traveling the world with his beloved wife, Doris.

In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his sons, Randy A. Plucker and Scott R. Plucker; stepdaughter, Candace Saxton; and siblings, William B. Plucker, Herbert A. Plucker Jr., Ardell Rickenbach, and Isabell Barr. He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Doris E. (Gettis) Plucker; stepsons, Keith A. Moore (Gina), Brian A. Moore, David A. Moore (Janice), and Glenn A. Moore (Nancy); brother, Myron L. Plucker; 11 step-grandchildren, including Eva Cota; and 11 step-great-grandchildren, including James Cota Jr. and Randall Cota.
