Richard U. Podobnik

On Thanksgiving Day, November 27, 2025, Richard U. "Chief" Podobnik, age 83, of South Park Twp., passed away unexpectedly. Beloved husband of 60 years to Virginia L. "Ginny" (Preiss) Podobnik; loving father of Tammy (George) Kalafatis and Sharon Ann (Robert) Davis; grandfather of Sgt. Derek Robert Kalafatis, Jack Richard Kalafatis, Andrea (Chris) Weimer, Samantha Davis, and Danielle Davis; great-grandfather of Kit Weimer and Lincoln Weimer; brother of James (Kathy) Podobnik, Anthony Podobnik, Catherine (late Matthew) Kalionoski, Robert (Joy) Podobnik, Christian Ball, Jake Ball and the late Raymond Podobnik; also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.

Richard was a U.S. Army veteran and an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed golfing, hunting, bowling and playing horseshoes, which he was so good at that he could've been a professional. He worked for the Clark Candy Company for over 33 years, and was a longtime member of the IUOE Local 95 Stationary Operating Engineers Union. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him, and fondly remembered by his favorite saying, "Hey buddy, who has more fun than we do?"

Friends received Sunday, November 30th from 12-2 p.m. at the GRIFFITH FUNERAL HOME, INC., 5636 Brownsville Road, (at 6th St.) South Park Twp. (412) 655-4600 where a Blessing Service will be held at 1:30 p.m.
