Richard Rattigan Obituary

Richard L. "Dick" Rattigan, 74, a well-known, lifelong Chicora resident, passed away peacefully while in the company of his family early Friday morning, April 4, 2025, at Chicora Medical Center, following an extended illness.
Richard was born in Chicora on June 19, 1950. He was the son of the late Benjamin J. Sr. and Elizabeth F. Donaldson. Richard graduated from Fairview Township-Karns City High School in 1969. After high school, he attended New Castle School of Trades and earned a degree in auto mechanics. Richard was employed by Indspec Chemical in Petrolia and retired following 31 years of service.
He was a lifelong member of Saint Clare of Assisi Parish, Mater Dolorosa Roman Catholic Church in Chicora. Dick enjoyed bowling in the Petroleum Valley Bowling League. He was a member of the Early Ford V8 Club No. 48, and looked forward to attending car cruises with his Mustang and watching Pittsburgh sports. He was a proud lifetime member of the Chicora Fire Department. Richard's most endearing enjoyment was spending time with his family and friends.
Richard is survived by his wife, Shirley Barnhart Rattigan, whom he married at Mater Dolorosa Roman Catholic Church on Aug. 5, 1972. Also surviving are three sons, Todd R. Rattigan Sr. and his wife, Catie, Scott M. Rattigan and his wife, Sarah, and Marc B. Rattigan and his wife, Heather; nine grandchildren, Todd Jr., Ethan, Mackenzie, Ryan, Will, Hannah, Halle, Shane and Harlie; a brother, Robert Rattigan and his wife, Hazel; and two sisters-in-law, Rose Ann "Sis" and Joan Rattigan; as well as a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Benjamin Jr., John and James; and three sisters, Francis, Sally and Karen.
