Richard Michael Ray

Richard M. Ray, beloved husband, of Diane (nee Domijancic) for 40 years, passed away peacefully, after a long illness on December 4th. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard A. Ray and Shirley Ray. His family included his sisters Susan (the late Brian), Sandy (Dave), Debbi, brother-in-law Jim (Nancy), sister-in-law Sharon (Jim), the late Susan (Craig), and nieces and nephews. Rich dedicated his career to fire protection and life safety for four decades. His illustrious career included active leadership roles in many associations at national, state and local levels. Rich was the President and Chairman of the Board for Cybor Fire Protection Company in Downers Grove. His many passions included listening to music, playing guitar, fishing, short wave radio, and his four loving cats. Above all Rich loved gardening and being out in nature bird watching with his wife Diane.

In honor of Rich's life, a visitation will be held on Thursday, December 11, 2025, from 3:00 – 8:00 pm at Modell Funeral Home, 7710 S. Cass Ave, Darien. Additional visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday, December 12, 2025, from 8:15 am – 9:15 am followed by prayers at 9:15 am. A procession to Our Lady of Peace Church for a 10:00 am Mass will immediately follow prayers. A procession to St. Casimir Cemetery will immediately follow Mass.
