Ricky was born on September 1, 1957, in Indianapolis, IN to the late Robert “Bob” Hartsock and Joyce (West) Herrington, who survives. He is also preceded in death by his step-father, Wayne Herrington and step-mother, Betty Hartsock.

In addition to being survived by his mother, Joyce Herrington of Franklin, he is also survived by his 2 children, Jennifer Watts of Bowling Green, KY and Richard Hartsock (Kelly) of Rockfield, KY; 3 grandchildren, Maddie Hartsock, Spencer Watts and Mallory Hartsock; 1 brother, Mark Hartsock (Rita) of Franklin, KY; 2 nieces, Carly Hartsock and Katie Adams; and his beloved grand-dog, Bella.

Ricky loved the Lord and found his identity in Christ. He loved his mother, being “Grandpa” to Maddie, Spencer and Mallory, fishing, and being a very amateur beekeeper. He enjoyed playing golf, even if it was mostly from the rough and the putts rarely broke the way they were supposed to. He had an infectious smile that even in his last days he used to comfort those around him. Ricky was the epitome of Christ’s example of humble servitude and putting others before himself. He was a Freemason and a proud servant member of Simpson Benevolent Lodge #177 in Franklin, last serving as Secretary.

Ricky graduated from Franklin Simpson High School in 1975. He was a loyal member of East Side Missionary Baptist Church in Franklin, KY, serving in various roles including deacon, Sunday school teacher, and treasurer at different points over his decades of membership. He was a long time employee of Potter and Brumfield until the Franklin plant closed and he retired from New Mather Metals.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to East Side Missionary Baptist Church building fund, c/o Alita Douglas, 825 S. Browns Lane #2501, Gallatin,TN 37066. Envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.
