Richard Rothmeier, age 87, of Clements, was called to his eternal home on Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at Parkview Senior Living in Belview, Minnesota. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 30, 2024 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Morgan. A luncheon will follow the Mass at the church. Burial will be in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Clements at 1:30 p.m. with full Military Honors. A visitation will be held on Monday, April 29, 2024, from 4:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. The Knights of Columbus will be leading a Rosary at 4:00 p.m. at Nelson-Hillestad Funeral Home in Morgan. Visitation will continue one hour prior to Mass.

Richard Henry Rothmeier was born to Henry and Theresa (Fink) Rothmeier on October 18, 1936 in Three Lakes Township, Redwood County. He attended Sunrise Country School and graduated from Morgan High School.
On February 7, 1962 he was united in marriage to Devota Kokesch at St. George Catholic Church in St. George. The couple raised their eight children on the family farm near Clements. They spent their retirement years in Morgan.
Richard served in the Army National Guard. He was involved with Clements American Legion and Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed polka dancing, playing cards, old-time music, puzzles, word searches and sudoku. He liked to visit and made new friends wherever he went.
Richard is survived by six children: Philip (fiancé, Christine) of Madison Lake, Peter (Sue) of New Ulm, Mark (Linnae) of Clara City, Renee (Benjamin) of Mankato, Bruce (Rachelle) of Goodyear, Arizona and Anita (Tony) Mages of Morton. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren, Justin, Jared, Jenessa; Amber, Brittany, and Tyler; Kristina and Joseph; Priscilla, Jacob, and Kyle; and Luke, Madilyn and Colton; and 6 great-grandchildren. He is survived by one sister, Caroline Mathiowetz. He is preceded in death by his wife, Devota, sons, Patrick and Paul, daughter in-law, Anita, brother, Clarence and sister, Delores Bossuyt and his parents.
