Richard Saunders

Richard Saunders 75 of Lakewood died Monday December 15, 2025, at Ocean University Medical Center, Bricktown. Born and raised in Elizabeth, he resided in Old Bridge for 13 years before moving to Avenel for 10 years and then Lakewood 8 years ago. He worked in the Petroleum Refinery Industry for over 30 years and was a Facilities Manager for Gulf Oil Co. in Linden for 15 years before retiring in 2014. He enjoyed playing poker and cards, gardening, cooking his Italian pastas and sauces. He enjoyed going to eat at Spano's and Kitchen Consigliere. He was a member of the VFW Post #7164 in Avenel and the American Legion Post #0348 in Bricktown. His favorite pastime was being with his "Baby Face" granddaughter Shay. Surviving is his children, Joseph J Saunders, and Theresa Saunders and her wife Shannon Saunders and their daughter Shay, a sister, Barbara Drake and her son, Daniel Drake and his family. Visitation is Monday 6-9 PM with a 7:30 PM Life Celebration at Oliverie Funeral Home 125 S. Cooks Bridge Rd Jackson.
