Richard J. Schmutzer

Richard J. Schmutzer, age 83, of Wisconsin Rapids, WI passed away Thursday, August 4, 2022, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, August 13, 2022, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Milladore, WI. Father Gus Bentil will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Wenceslaus Parish Cemetery. The family will greet relatives and friends from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the Mass on Saturday at the church.
Richard was born December 21, 1938, in Wisconsin Rapids to Joseph and Martha (Schuerman) Schmutzer. He married Diane Brandl on November 9, 1968, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Milladore, WI.
Richard was employed at Georgia Pacific (Domtar) for 40 years. He also farmed in the Town of Sherry.
Richard served in the US Army National Guard. He was also active in the Knights of Columbus and the Milladore American Legion Post 468.
Richard is survived by his wife, Diane; four children: Gail, Cathy, Connie, and Chad; one brother, Phillip (Eileen) Schmutzer of Milladore; two sisters, Mary Meyer of Stevens Point and Nancy Brandl of Milladore; and sisters-in-law: Claudette Schmutzer, Lorraine Schmutzer, and Sharon Schmutzer. Richard is preceded in death by his parents; brothers: David, John "Jack," Robert and James Schmutzer; and brothers-in-law, Raymond Brandl and Gene Meyer.
The family would like to thank the staff at Aspirus Wausau Hospital for the care they provided.
