Richard "Rick" J. Schultz
June 2, 1955-April 11, 2021
ROCK ISLAND-Richard "Rick" J. Schultz, 65, of Rock Island, IL, passed away Sunday, April 11, 2021 at his home.
Private live-streamed services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 20, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island, (and may be viewed at wheelanpressly.com/livestream Rock Island). Burial will be at Chippiannock Cemetery, Rock Island. Visitation for friends and family will be 5:00 pm. to 7:00 p.m. Monday, April 19, at the funeral home. Those attending are to observe current public gathering guidelines.
Rick was born on June 2, 1955 in Rock Island, a son of Clarence "Balmer" and Marylou Arnold Schultz. He graduated from Rock Island High School, Class of 1973. He married Janet L. Hooks on July 29, 1978 in Rock Island.
Rick was a furnace operator for Tri-City Heat Treat, Rock Island. He also was a trainer for the company, and was honored for 43 years of service in January of 2021.
He was an avid pool player, and enjoyed competing in the White Horse Bar Pool League. Rick loved softball, and had been a coach and later an umpire for the Rock Island Girls Softball. He also enjoyed golf and fishing.
Those left behind to cherish Rick's memory include his wife, Janet, of Rock Island; children: Erica Johnson, Davenport, Amy Owens, Anthony Schultz and Harley Schultz all of Rock Island; grandchildren: Trevon Johnson, Jayden Johnson, Landen Johnson, Abigail Owens, and Joseph Owens; siblings, Irvin (Sheila) Schultz of Hillsdale, IL, Ora English; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Rick was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Bruce Schultz; sister, Suzann Swan; one son, Joseph, in infancy; and a granddaughter, Kaylynn.
