Richard F. Sieben

Portsmouth, RI - Richard F. "Red" Sieben, 77, of Park Avenue, Portsmouth, RI and of West Palm Beach, FL died Friday, December 18, 2009 at their home in Portsmouth surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Yetta (Green) Sieben. Born in Worcester, MA on May 6, 1932, he was the son of the late Curtis A.W. and Alberta (Lagasse) Sieben. Mr. Sieben received his B.A. in criminal justice from Salve Regina University. In 1987, he retired as a sergeant from the Portsmouth Police Department after 27 years of service. He also worked as a security guard for Newport Jai Alai for many years. Red enjoyed riding his motorcycle and many will remember him riding his motorcycle as the Keystone Cop in the annual Newport Police Parade. Besides his wife of fifty six years, he leaves his four sons, Mark W. Sieben and his wife Lynne C., David B. Sieben and his wife Bonnie M, all of Portsmouth, RI, Richard S. Sieben of Fall River, MA, and his former wife Susan M. Sieben of Portsmouth, RI, Darryl C. Sieben and his wife Martha E., of Portsmouth, RI. He also leaves his 12 grandchildren, Scott, Brian, Rebecca, Connor, Hannah, Lucas, Alexander, Nicholas, Julee, Timothy, Christina and Megan. Red is also survived by his sister Joan Silvia and her husband Leonard of Portsmouth, RI as well as many nieces, nephews and friends He was the brother of the late Ernest Sieben, Albert Sieben, Lawrence Sieben, Lois Kayda, Lorraine Brown and Beverly Plantier His funeral will be held Wednesday, December 23, 2009 at 10:00am in the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
