Richard Silva Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Yates Funeral Home & Cremation Services - Port St. Lucie on Mar. 14, 2026.
Richard Gregory Silva, known affectionately as Rich by his friends and loved ones, completed his earthly journey on March 12, 2026, in Fort Pierce, Florida. Born on March 31, 1948, in the bustling city of Cleveland, Ohio, Rich was a man whose heart was as grand as the life he led.

Rich's early years were rooted in the love of his family, as the cherished son of Irene Silva (nee Opalach) and Richard L Silva, both of whom predeceased him. Sister Margaret Silva also deceased. His journey through life was shared with his devoted wife, Paulette Silva (nee Green), who was the cornerstone of his happiness. Richard had two children Adam and Ellen. Rich's legacy of love continues through his stepchildren, Thomas Rice, Kenneth Rice, Robin Stankiewicz (nee Rice), and Sharon Rice, all of whom he adored immensely. The family circle was joyously expanded to include six grandsons and five granddaughters, each of whom brought him immeasurable pride and joy.

Rich's professional life was marked by a steadfast commitment to excellence and service. He navigated a successful career in IT, leading teams as an Operations Manager and serving as a trusted Trade Representative. His work ethic was unparalleled, but it was his time as a veteran of the Army, where he served valiantly in Vietnam, that defined his dedication to his country and fellow citizens.

A devout Christian, Rich lived his faith through action and love. He found solace and strength within the church community, which was a source of constant inspiration throughout his life.

Beyond his professional and spiritual commitments, Rich had a zest for life that was infectious. He cherished his wife beyond measure, always placing her happiness at the forefront of his mind. His love for her was a testament to the unwavering devotion he had for his family. Rich was a pillar of support for his stepchildren and their families, always ready to lend a hand or share a word of encouragement.

Rich's passion for the oldies filled the home with music and memories, while his love for Wiley Coyote often brought laughter to the room. Classic Corvettes were not just a hobby but a symbol of the timeless style he appreciated. Bingo nights were a favorite pastime, where he would often be found engaging in friendly competition and camaraderie. His dedication to the Cleveland Indians was more than just fandom; it was a lifelong love affair with the game and his hometown.

Those who knew Rich will remember him as the embodiment of love, humor, and selflessness. His ability to light up a room with his wit and warmth was unmatched, as was his propensity to put others before himself. He was a man of integrity, whose actions spoke louder than words, and whose legacy will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Rich's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with love, laughter, and faith. As we bid farewell to this remarkable man, we do so with the assurance that his spirit will continue to guide and inspire us. His memory will be eternally etched in our hearts, as we carry forward the lessons of compassion and kindness he exemplified.

Today, we celebrate the life of Richard Gregory Silva, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. As he is called home, we take solace in knowing that he has found peace in the arms of the Lord. May he rest in the glory of everlasting life, as we honor the profound impact he had on this world.
