Richard R. Spore, 69, residing in Sandusky, passed away peacefully Saturday evening, July 5, 2025 at home with his family.
Richard was born on May 28, 1956 in Sandusky, OH to the late Peter and Janet (Pfeiffer) Spore Sr.
Richard was a graduate of Sandusky High School in the class of 1974, and went on to receive a Mechanical Engineer degree from Terra Tech. He was employed at JBT Food Tech for many years as a mechanical engineer. Richard enjoyed golfing, he was a passionate sports fan for The Sandusky Blue Streaks, The Ohio State Buckeyes, and Cleveland Sports Teams. He also enjoyed music and was a Todd Rundgren fan, and named his son after him. He loved to watch his kids play football and valued time spent with his family and friends. Richard was a smart, witty man with a fun sense of humor.
Richard is survived by his wife of 47 years, Tracy (Fresch) Spore, whom he married on April 15, 1978. He is also survived by his daughter, Sally (Ryan) Camella of Delaware, OH; his two sons, Kyle (Caitlin) Spore of Marysville, OH and Troy (Megan) Spore of Norwalk, OH; daughter-in-law, Stephanie Spore of Sandusky, OH; 10 grandchildren, Hayley, Sydney, Alexa, Joe, Giuliana, Gino, Todd, Lilly, Rocky, Estes; his brother, Jan (Ann) Spore of Cincinnati, OH and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In addition to his parents, Richard is preceded in death by son, Todd R. Spore in 2023; brother, Peter Spore Jr.; and twin sister, Leslie Whismam.
Private Family Services will be held. Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements. Burial will be at Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron, OH.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to contribute to Richard's memory may do so to Stein Hospice Services, 1200 Sycamore Line Sandusky, Ohio 44870.
