Friends, we recently lost two of Maryland´s finest patriot warriors-Cynthia and Cal Steuart. With a heavy heart I come to you today mourning the loss of another hero--my old friends who had loving hearts and spirits of service. Let me share their story and celebrate their amazing lives as voiced at their funerals by Maryland political leaders, congressman, church, and leadership of community organizations around the state, friends alike.
o Cynthia spent her entire life as a warrior for God. Her goal was to reach out to touch people to help them in their lives. She had a heart filled and dedicated to fulfilling God´s purpose in life. She was a special leader who had the ability, skill to pull people together to do good for the church as well as for the state of Maryland.
o She had a gift for language. Her mission was to make things happen to positively change their lives for the good. This goal is so important today in a world of political chaos, fear of terrorist attacks, and wars that never end.
o Cynthia and Cal were American patriots committed to public service. They were active in their local church, University of Maryland alumni, Maryland Republican Party, Elks, Lions Club, American Legion, 4H to name a few.
o For over 20 years, Cal gave his time, lawyer expertise to Saint James Episcopal Church; Cynthia was a nurse, musician, who gave her time pro bono as choir director to Saint James Episcopal Church.
o Cynthia, Cal hosted/arranged/directed youth choirs that successfully performed all over the country-ensuring that every child could join-if the child could not afford to travel with the choir-Cal (anonymously) paid their expenses.
o Cal as a lawyer-had the gift of gab. Cynthia, Cal enjoyed entertaining. They used this skill to successfully host the Calvert County, Maryland Republic Women Christmas fund-raising party at their home for 15-20 years.
o For years Cal served as an officer in the Elks, Lions Club for years; Cynthia was officer for the Maryland Republican Women.
M friend, I come to you today with a heavy heart to say It´s not the end but the beginning for Cynthia, Cal. For me--it´s time to make my 2025 new year resolution to honor their service and pick up the patriot mantle to be of service to Maryland communities for the better good. This is my 2025 New Years resolution. What's yours?

Cal was a lovely, elegant man who always had a ready smile and a nice word. He was an asset not only to his profession but to humanity. He will be missed.

I very much enjoyed having Cal as an office neighbor during my first 8 years of practice with George. He always made me smile and was particularly overjoyed to visit with me when I brought my first baby into the office just a few weeks old. He was an exceptional family man and attorney. I'm very glad for the time I got to know him. Sending much love to the incredible family he created <3 May he rest in peace.
