Dear Grace and Family,
Jackie and I want to convey our most sincere condolences on the passing of Dick. I realize that he had a very tough time with his health recently, but it was amazing how well he dealt with it as expressed in his interview with Melba Vasquez a couple of years ago when he received his APA gold medal award. He was, quite simply, a very good man. He was an excellent leader, and I always appreciated his support and direction when I was a professor, and he was the department chairman. Jackie and I always enjoyed our visits with you and Dick. He gave so much to individual faculty, the university, and our community. I greatly enjoyed my time with him. He was admired by so many. Again, our sincere condolences; our thoughts are with you.
