Richard Sullivan Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Campbell Funeral Home - Beverly on Nov. 10, 2025.

Publish in a newspaper

Richard E. Sullivan Jr., 75, of Wenham, passed away on Friday, November 7. Born in Everett, he was the son of the late Richard Sullivan Sr. and Barbara (Merrick) Sullivan, and a graduate of Malden High School and Gordon College.
Richard was known for his big smile and sense of humor. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, playing tennis, golf, and basketball, and going on scenic drives. He could often be found "coaching" the Celtics (from the sidelines or his couch), giving people a hard time in jest, and laughing with his grandchildren. Tough on the outside, he had a soft spot for lap cats and birdwatching.
After a life-threatening stroke left him unable to return to his career as a sales executive, he found new purpose volunteering every week at Beverly Hospital. He loved helping people and joking around to lighten the mood for patients and staff alike. His gregarious personality will be sorely missed.
He is survived by his three loving children: Heidi Roddy and her husband, Patrick, of Ipswich; Matthew Sullivan and his wife, Leigh, of Beverly; and Elizabeth "Katie" Geelan and her husband, Christian, of Beverly; his five adored grandchildren, Finn, Mack, Coop, Kieran, and Matilde; his sister, Cathy Boyages; his brother, Thomas Sullivan; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his dearest companion, Susan. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Robert Sullivan.
Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life at Danversport Yacht Club, 161 Elliott St, Danvers, MA 01923 on Sunday November 16 at 1:00 PM.
Arrangements by the Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly. Condolences at www.campbellfuneral.com.

I was Dick's employer from1979 through 2002. Dick joined Contact East as a local sales representative who quickly proved to be an accomplished professional who advanced to regional sales manager then to national sales manager and ultimately Vice President of Sales and valued member of the Contact East Executive Team.
Dick was a thoughtful, kind and skilled communicator with outstanding motivational skills always helping and inspiring others.
I will miss Dick and our occasional coffee chats.

Dick and I worked together for over 20 years. We worked hard and had a lot of fun doing it. Dick loved the game of golf and together we played in some memorable tournaments each of us blaming the other for not winning. He was a great friend and I will miss him greatly.

I'll always cherish the three years we shared an apartment in Newburyport which gave me the opportunity to get to know Heidi, Matt and Caitlin. RIP my friend.
