Richard G. Swanger Jr. passed away on November 10, 2025 from a sudden illness at the age of 77.
Richard is preceded in death by his loving mother, Martha Brumm Swanger and his father Richard G. Swanger Sr.
Richard is survived by his wife Janet E. Musgrove Swanger of Massillon Ohio, his sister Judy Palmer of Bellville Ohio, brother William Swanger of North Canton Ohio, special sister-in-law Cheryl (Dena) Musgrove of Massillon Ohio and 13 nieces and nephews.
Richard was a US Army Vietnam Veteran, crafted and raced dune buggies, in 1973 he married the love of his life and they were together for 54 life changing years, an organic farmer in the Beach City area for 35 years, he also grew beautiful flowers, and loved to garden and grow vegetables, was an excellent cook, a wood carver making hand honed bowls and spoons, designed and produced leaded glass (no patterns for this artist) and a vintner of some of the best wines.
Throughout his life he supported family and friends who needed a hand up. Richard was a supporter and volunteer of the Massillon Women’s Club, as well as assistant cook for 2 1/2 years.
Richard was ornery, had a good sense of humor and will be gravely missed by those who loved him.
A celebration of Richard's life will be held early 2026.
