Richard J. Switzer Jr. passed away peacefully on October 24, 2025 after fighting a long battle with Parkinson's Disease. He is survived by his children Pam (Lou) Masur, Paula (Joe) DeZarn, Joey (Angie) Switzer, and Kristi (Jeremy) Arrasmith; his grandchildren Nicholas and Jacob DeZarn, Molly and Tommy Switzer, Laura Masur, and Maci, Nolan, and Nathan Arrasmith; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard J. Switzer Sr. and Beatrice Switzer (nee Stacey); his sisters, Shirley Chandler and Patricia McCleese; his half-brother, Kendall Hobbs, and his former wife, Ruth Ann Switzer.
Whether you knew him as Rich, Junior, or Dick, he touched your life in a special way. Richard was dedicated to his profession, retiring from the roofing industry. In his free time, he was a lifelong sports fan who refereed basketball, coached baseball, umpired baseball and enjoyed attending his grandchildren's sporting events. He had a passion for art and was often described as a talented artist. He loved cheering on the Cincinnati Reds, Georgetown College Baseball, UK Basketball, and the Bengals. Richard also never went without having an ice-cold Pepsi.
He was lovingly cared for by the staff of Village Care Center, who became like family to him.
A visitation will be held at Linnemann Funeral Homes, Burlington location, at 10:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Village Care Center, 2990 Riggs Avenue, Erlanger, KY 41018, in memory of Richard Switzer.
