Richard Ivo Thoma known affectionately by friends and family as Dick, passed away peacefully on October 30, 2025 at the age of 88, in Wisconsin. He was born on May 28, 1937, in Pennsylvania, a place that held his roots and memories. Dick's life was a tapestry of love, laughter, and courage, woven through the years with joy of his family and the multitude of friendships he nurtured.
Dick was a devoted husband to his beloved wife Angie (Carini) Thoma, with whom he shared the most beautiful chapters of his life. Together, they raised a family of strong, independent daughters: Gerri (Ken) Kretlow, Joanne (Terry) Ball, and Jeannine Dixon. He was a pillar of strength and a beacon of wisdom for his grandchildren Aniyah Thoma, Katie (Dane) Trampush, Jessica (Cole) Stelpflug, Joseph (Madeline) Kretlow, Arrion Dixon, AnnaMarie Kretlow, Avery Dixon, and Terrence Ball II. The light of his legacy continued to shine bright with his great-grandchildren Isla Stelpflug, Arrion Dixon Jr., Brooks Trampush and Olivia Stelpflug.
After proudly graduating from high school, Dick served his country in the Air Force, instilling in him a sense of patriotism that he carried throughout his life. He worked at Pabst Brewery. Dick and Angie owned Thoma's Pub and Grill, a place that not only served good food but also became a hub for the community and camaraderie under his friendly stewardship.
Dick lived his beliefs through his actions, showing kindness and compassion to all. His interests were as broad as his smile, from playing softball in his younger days to enjoying thrills of various sports from the sidelines. His laughter was infectious, and his presence in any room was a source of comfort and joy.
Dick's sense of humor was legendary, and he had a knack for making everyone around him feel at ease. His friendliness was not just a trait but a way of life, as he greeted each day and every person with a warm smile and an open heart. But it was his courage that stood out to most, a quiet strength that saw him through life's challenges.
A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered. Dick Thoma was funny, friendly, and courageous, and these words only scratch the surface of a man who was so much to so many. His memory will be cherished, his laughter will echo in the hearts of his loved ones, and his spirit will continue to guide them. Dick's story is one of love and laughter that will live on through the generations he touched. Though he has left this earthly realm, his legacy endures, etched in the lives of those who had the privilege to know and love him.
A visitation will be held at on Wednesday, November 5 at Old St. Mary's Parish, 844 N. Broadway, Milwaukee from 9 AM until time of Funeral Mass at 10 AM.

Always enjoyed Dick and Angie. Great sponsors of the Thoma's league and tourney softball team in the late 70s/early 80s. God's blessing to the family.
