Just heard of Ricky's passing and the grief will be never-ending. His love and pride for daughter shannon was bottomless. I'll never forget the day we found out we were. Cousins by marriage or the nights we'd stay up watching horror shows. Oh Ricky the endless pots of coffee and you helping me stay sober when my son died. Love to you and I pray for the day I join you.

With eternal love

Hi, Im Ricky, Im a sicky" is how my friend Ricky Thomas would identify himself at the podium in AA. We did a lot of partying together back in the day. I wondered where Rick went, I hadn't seen him in a few years when I was still partying. In the summer of 94 I found myself in Danvers Detox. Thats when I found out where my friend Ricky Thomas was. He came into the detox to put on a commitment and blew my mind. He said he had been sober for 4 yrs and if I wanted what he had, I had to do what he did, Don't Drink, ask for help and go to AA. I told him I was waiting for a bed at the Ryan House. He gave me his number and said call me when you get there. Rick would be my temporary sponsor and come every Tuesday nite to take me to his Home group meeting at St Richards in Danvers. Ricky showed me and told me that if you want to hold on to what you have, you have to give it away. He took me on commitments with him and showed me how to live sober. For that I will be eternally grateful to my friend, Ricky Thomas. We went from coke sniffing drunks down the Old Mill Pub and Pauls Lounge to sober friends in AA. R. I. P.
