Richard "Dick" Happ Toepel, 89, beloved husband of the late Shirley Ann (Smith) Toepel, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, September 26, 2025.

Born in Royersford, he was the son of the late Happ C. Toepel and Elizabeth C. (Quigley) Toepel.

Dick and Shirley were true soulmates who lived life to the fullest together. Their marriage was a beautiful partnership built on love, laughter, and adventure. They delighted in traveling the world, entertaining, and spending time with friends and family. Their beach house in Wildwood Crest, New Jersey, held some of their most special memories-a gathering place where summers were filled with laughter, relaxation, and the joy of community. Even in life's hardest moments, the community they built there surrounded them with care and friendship.

Professionally, Dick was a well-respected executive at Knoll Furniture, where he worked for many years. He not only loved his work but also formed lifelong friendships with colleagues who admired and respected him. Retirement was difficult at first, as he so valued his career, but it soon became a blessing. He embraced the time to travel with Shirley, enjoy their shared adventures, and simply be together.

Known for his warmth and love of people, Dick often reminded his family and friends how blessed he felt in life. He loved gardening, volunteering, entertaining, sharing meals, and, most of all, spending time with those he loved. His faith was also central to his life. For more than 60 years, he was a devoted member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Stowe, serving as a Lay Leader, Sunday School teacher, and on the Finance Committee.

Dick will be remembered for his unwavering devotion to Shirley, his gratitude for the blessings in his life, and the way he brought joy to everyone around him. He is survived by his son, Mark Toepel, husband of Marcy; his sister, Emma, wife of George Capoferri; grandchildren Josh Toepel, Jana Ulrich, wife of Brett, Jordan Toepel, husband of Susan, Jared Pennypacker, husband of Jessica, and Erin Hallman, wife of Ben; and 12 great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by his sister, LaRue, wife of the late George Knod.

Dick's life was one of faith, family, friendship, and love-a legacy that will continue to shine through his family and all who were fortunate to know him.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at 11:00AM at St. Peter's Lutheran Church (564 Glasgow St, Pottstown, PA 19464, USA) with Rev. Dr. Ann Baly officiating. Burial will be held privately by the family at a later date. A visitation will also be held on Saturday, October 11, 2025 from 10:00AM-11:00AM at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Capital Fund for St. Peter's Church (564 Glasgow St, Pottstown, PA 19464) in Richard's name.

Dick was a wonderful colleague. I never worked for him but worked with him. He had a way that encouraged me to find a way to help him achieve his goals concerning a customer order. He made me a better Customer Service manager. I first met him in February 1970. He certainly bled Knoll red. Mark and Marci, I am sorry for your loss

Mark, Marcy and Family, I´m so sorry for your loss. I worked for your Dad and he was always a great person and fun to be around and was a great family man. I hadn´t seen him in a few years until your Mothers passing which was sad and then I was fortunate enough to see him at a get together. He will be missed but he´s in a happy place with your Mom once again. I´m sure the last 6 months were hard on him being without his Shirley. RIP Dick. All of you take care.
