Dick is survived by his wife of over 33 years, Dianna Ubel; daughters, Denise (Brian) Kuester of New Ulm, Jessica (Wayne) Gotvald of Foley; son, David Ubel of Courtland; stepsons, Jeff Lund (Carmin Van Epps) of New Ulm, Andrew (Megan) Lund of Fairfax, Kenneth (Rebecca) Lund of Litchfield; fourteen grandchildren; sister-in-law, Revea Ubel of Canton, OH; and many family and dancing friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Donald Ubel.
Richard Allen Ubel was born May 21, 1943 to Arthur and Dorothy (Nagel) Ubel in New Ulm. He graduated from New Ulm Public High School and began farming at the family farm immediately after. In addition to farming, Dick served in the Army National Guard from 1961-1967 and also raised dairy cows. Later, he raised sheep, pigs, horses, and llamas. On August 4, 1990, Dick was united in marriage to Dianna Groebner at Little Brown Church in Iowa. Dick retired from farming in 2008 and began cleaning Minnesota Valley Funeral Homes and Alliance Bank in their retirement. In his free time, Dick loved going camping, traveling, dancing, mushroom hunting, cutting wood, and playing cards. He especially enjoyed his John Deere tractor, his dog Cecil, and, most of all, the time he was able to spend with all his family. Dick will be dearly missed by those that knew him. Blessed be his memory.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society or the Oak Hills Living Center.
