Richard Wayne Walters

1941 - 2023

Richard Wayne Walters was born December 8, 1941, to Dora Belle and Carl Clifford Walters in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. He was one of 6 siblings that grew up on the family farm in Liberty, Morris. He attended Liberty Morris school through 1958 and graduated from Okmulgee High School in 1959. After graduating he welcomed his firstborn son Ronald and began his career with Okmulgee Plumbing. Two years later his son Bret was born. Ten years would pass before his only daughter, Traci, would be born in 1971. This was a big year for Richard, he opened Walters Plumbing, which is still owned and operated by his son Ronald today. He later retired from his role as a Maintenance Supervisor at Jess Dunn Correctional Center.
Richard had many hobbies, such as; fishing, hunting, old cars, and gardening. He most enjoyed watching Gunsmoke, having coffee with his siblings, and spending time with the people he loved, including his grandkids and great grandkids any chance he got. Richard's zest for life and jovial spirit will be missed by us all.
Richard is preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Dora Walters, his eldest brother Billy Joe, and
his son Bret Walters.
Richard is survived by: His siblings Clifford Walters and wife Vera, Shirley McDowell and husband Ray, Glenda Dixon and husband Jamie, and Allen Walters and wife Linda all from the Liberty Morris area. Children: Ronald Walters of Okmulgee, Traci Ladner and husband Mike of Broken Arrow and Tommy Treat and wife Tina of Warr Acres. Grandchildren: Beth Walters, Matt Walters, Bekah Walters (Anson), Emily Grimmett (Zack), Kobi Walters (Briton), Aubri Wolfe, Siera Wolfe, Tyler Ladner, Cody Ladner, Rylee Tramble, Sarah Selamn, Jacie Treat, Gabriel Treat, and Benjamin Treat. Great Grandchildren: Adlee, Addison, Peyton, Reagan, Jax, Laken, Kash, Brayden, Gracie, Parker, Lincoln, Livia, Carter, Lee, Ryann, Anna and so many other family and friends that he loved dearly!
A Celebration of Life will be held on 1:00 PM on Monday, March 6, 2023, at Twin Hills Baptist Church with Reverend Steve Treagesser officiating.
