Richard Alan Walters, a proud Marine and dedicated supporter of Veterans, passed away on March 7, 2026 in Royal Oak, Michigan. Born on October 16, 1972 in Pontiac, Michigan. Richard's life was characterized by a commitment to both his professional endeavors and his cherished family.
Richard’s greatest pride and joy came from his family. He leaves behind his loving wife, Heather, and three children: daughters, Sydney Walters and Alexis Walters, and son, Zachary Walters. He also is mourned by his mother, Ellen Jones, and his siblings, Dave (Heather) Walters and Terry (Laura) Walters. Richard's legacy will continue through his friends and extended family who were fortunate to experience his humor and kindness.
Richard’s 25-year career at Comcast was marked by teamwork and leadership, where he contributed significantly to the success of his projects and the satisfaction of his colleagues. His work ethic and dedication were further complemented by his support of the Veteran community through his role at Comcast.
Richard was an avid enthusiast of sports and outdoor activities. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, and riding the trails with his wife at their cottage. Notably, he has nationally registered climbs in Mt. Rainier and the Cascade Mountains. A devoted fan of the University of Michigan, Rich was known for his enthusiastic support of the team, often rallying friends and family to join him in celebrating their victories.
Family and friends are invited to honor Richard’s memory on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 South Main Street, Plymouth, Michigan. The Memorial Gathering will take place from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM, followed by a Celebration of Life from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM. We encourage everyone to wear Richard’s favorite team gear: U of M, Lions, Tigers, or Pistons. These events will be an opportunity for all who knew Richard to come together, share stories, and remember a life well-lived.
Richard Alan Walters will be remembered not only for his adventurous spirit, but also for the love and steadfast support he provided to his family and friends throughout his life. His presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
