Richard Herbert Widegren

Richard Herbert Widegren passed away peacefully in hospice care on May, 23 2025. He was 80 years old.
A native of Chicago, Richard was born on February 24, 1945, to Herbert and Ada. He was a graduate of Northeastern Illinois University and a lifelong educator.
His career as a science teacher for Chicago Public Schools was a natural extension of his love of fishing and the outdoors. One of his greatest joys was instilling his appreciation for nature, adventure and observation in his two daughters and many students over the years.
Richard was predeceased by his parents, Herbert and Ada Widegren, brother, Gilbert and sister, Verdelle. He is survived by his loving daughters, Sarah (Francesco) Guzzo and Erika (Jeremy) Fuchs; his beloved granddaughter, Mason Fuchs and grandson, Pierluca Guzzo.
Our Dad loved sharing stories and a great meal, so please celebrate him as you remember with us, the great times we had together. A private celebration of life will be held by family. We will always carry his memory in our hearts.
