Surrounded by his loving family, Richard Duran Wright, age 70, was called to his eternal home on January 31, 2025. Richard was born in Rowan, North Carolina and raised in Jacksonville, Florida. He was a proud United States Navy Veteran who served honorably during the Vietnam War. Richard was married to his loving wife, Cathy Wright, for 47 years. He loved fishing, tinkering in his workshop and spending time with his grandchildren. Richard is preceded in death by his father, James Monroe Wright; mother, Nancy Jeanette McCalvin, brother, James Monroe Wright, II, and sister, Lynette Diane Sapp.
Richard leaves behind his wife, Cathy Wright; only child Christy (David) Rice; grandchildren, Devon Vanderburg (Dallas Lilly) and Cheyenne Rice; sisters, Kathy Maddox and Sherry Wright; stepmother, Velga Wright, stepbrother, Scotty Shanaberger; and several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Richard's Life will be held on Friday, February 7, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. at Nassau Funeral Home with Pastor David King officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. The arrangements are under the care and direction of Nassau Funeral Home, 541720 US-1, Callahan, Florida 32011. 904-879-1770.
