Richard Wurst Obituary

Richard Springer "Dick" Wurst, 89, of Bridgewater, VA passed away on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at the Bridgewater Home. He was born on August 24,1935, in Philadelphia, PA and was a son of the late John Nagle Wurst and Alice (Springer) Wurst. Richard graduated from Gettysburg College with a degree in accounting and as a 2nd Lieutenant in the US Army, and earned an MBA from the Univ of Delaware. Richard was united in marriage to Margaret Mason "Peggy" Wurst in 1957. Richard retired from DuPont where he had worked as a Systems Analyst. He was a member of the Bridgewater Presbyterian Church and the Shenandoah Valley Choral Society. Surviving in addition to his wife are his children, Richard Wurst, Jr., John Wurst, and Carol Rabian; a brother, John Wurst; a sister, Judith Jones: nine grandchildren, MacGregor Hall-Wurst, Patrick Hall-Wurst, Katherine Hall-Wurst, Roslyn Hall-Wurst, Scott Wurst, Leah Chenette, Sara Wurst, Janice Rabian, and Garrett Rabian; five great grandchildren, Oceane Hall-Wurst, Nathan Hall-Wurst, and Ezra, Juniper and Arden Bright. A service celebrating Richard's life will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at 2pm at the Bridgewater Presbyterian Church with Rev. Kate Rascoe officiating. Reception will follow at the church. Donations should be sent to the Bridgewater Presbyterian Church or the BRC Foundation Forever Family Fund.
