Rick Anderson Obituary

Published by Legacy on Aug. 12, 2024.
Rick Morgan Anderson, 64, passed away peacefully at his home in Minneapolis on August 6th, 2024. Rick was born on May 10th, 1960 to parents Donald and Gladys (Dunn) Anderson. He grew up in Minneapolis and graduated from West High School in 1978. Rick was a hard worker and always went above and beyond in his professions. From his time as a manager at Harmon Autoglass to his work as a health aid caring for the elderly, Rick was dedicated to making other people smile by going the extra mile. Rick married Doreen Weinmann in 1987 and the couple had two daughters together, Lindsey and Ashley. While Rick and Doreen eventually separated, they remained close friends for the remainder of his life. Rick was active in the sobriety community and passionate about helping others struggling with addiction. He managed several sober houses in the metro area and mentored/sponsored numerous people for a large portion of his adult life. He loved plants and had the best green thumb around. Rick also loved animals and cared for several dogs and cats throughout his life. Rick was known for his quick humor and love of music and would always relish an opportunity to dance.
Rick is preceded in death by his longtime partner Eugene "Butch" Blaylock, his parents Donald and Gladys (Dunn) Anderson, his father-in-law Gerhardt Weinmann, and his grandson Benjamin Huot. Rick is survived by his two children Lindsey (Brian) Huot and Ashley (Mirza Zec) Anderson, three stepsons, Luke, Stephen, and Collin Flynn, two grandchildren Brynn and Owen Huot, his sisters Sandy Lundgren and Shelley (Tom) Skundberg, as well as numerous other extended family members.
While Rick is deeply missed, his family and friends find comfort knowing he is now spending eternity with his Heavenly Father. A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, September 8th from 1pm - 3pm at the Mississippi Crossings Event Center - 307 East River Parkway, Champlin, MN 55316.
