A great loss watching The Burbs in October 2024

Rick Ducommun was a success & an inspiration to a lot of people. He is one of my childhood heroes. He lives on through his work. He is loved by millions of fans worldwide. The 'Burbs is a classic film & ahead of it's time. His performance in that film is a masterpiece.

I knew Rick from his early years in Prince Albert/Sask/Canada. In fact I went to the same school he did. My
brother(Brent) and he were friends.
He would come over to our house on
occasion and I would visit him at his house. He was very funny even at that
age. And to think he would act with
A list Hollywood stars is remarkable.

Hi Peter, I just came across this. Rick and my ex Bill Layman were close friends back in the late '60's in PA and then in Saskatoon. They did a road trip to Calif. together. Both were bad boys - in a good way - and I've heard stories about their adventures. I always hoped the two of them could get together some day. So very sorry.

A comedy legend enjoyed you so much in the Burbs growing up and still when i watch the film makes me laugh to this day.

Rick and I met when I was a guest on Thicke of the Night. He raced one of my armadillos. He gave me a great break by enthusiastically challenging Alan Thicke in the armadillo race. The name of his armadillo was JC. I abbreviated it for my best friend, Jesus Christ. Rick was a great talent and I am sure if he could say one thing it would be that Armadillo Jim was right.....Jesus Christ can be anyone's best friend. Rest in Peace Rick.

I met Rick and his family when living in Chatsworth, CA. I was a huge fan and went to the Hollywood Improv whenever he headlined. Besides being a friend, I considered him one of the best stand up comics in the country. God keep you close and in his arms, my friend. What a loss for all of us.Condolences to the family.

Rick was a friend in Toronto when we were both young. He was funny, resourceful,and adventurous. His old friends here remember him with great affection and mourn his loss. My condolences to all his family.

I didn't know him, but seeing him in films, he felt like that guy we knew. He made me laugh in every movie I saw him in. He really made me laugh as the teacher in Encino Man...again, felt like that teacher we all knew in high school. I will miss his comedy.

I wish he had written the story of his life, priceless. One of the funniest people it has ever been my pleasure to know. It has been a long time - but the memories are fresh - good times.
