Rick Gowan, 67, of Sour Lake died Monday, November 24, 2025. He was born on December 1, 1957, in Blakley, Georgia, to Barbara Ann Pickron and Jacques Richard Gowan.

Rick was a graduate of Poplar Springs in Graceville, Florida where he lettered in basketball. He honored his country by serving in the Army from 1976 to 1979. He went on to marry the love of his life, Tammy, on March 4, 1978.

Rick worked as a financial advisor in Decatur, Alabama where they raised their two sons, Matt and Josh. He was always up for playing basketball with the boys or with friends.

Rick was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf, and playing music with his family and friends. He later retired in 2016 and decided to move to Texas so that he and Tammy could be closer to their granddaughters, Linley and Evie. Rick was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend.

Survivors include his wife, Tammy Gowan of Sour Lake; children, Matt Gowan and his wife, Kristin; and Josh Gowan and his fiancée, Callie Landry; grandchildren, Linley Gowan, Evie Gowan, Kolbi Hogan, and Cooper Landry; and siblings, Kenneth Baxley, and Leigh Ann Hogan.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Pickron; father, Jacques Gowan, and brother, Bill Baxley.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, donate online, or the American Heart Association, donate online.

A memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 13, 2025, at Gateway Church, 1600 US-69, Kountze. His cremation arrangements were handled by Broussard's Crematorium, Beaumont, under the direction of Broussard's, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont.
