Ricky Kane Obituary

Published by Legacy on Dec. 6, 2025.
Ricky L. Kane of Koontz Lake passed away suddenly at his home on Thursday, December 4, 2025. He was born on September 1, 1960, in Mishawaka to Carl Kane and Shirley (Fletcher) Werntz, and was 65 years old at the time of his death.

On February 24, 2012, in Mishawaka, Ricky married the love of his life, Lorrie (Glassburn), with whom he shared a devoted and loving marriage. Ricky was a proud and dedicated sous chef at the Morris Inn at the University of Notre Dame, where he worked for more than 34 years. His passion for cooking, strong work ethic, and loyalty to his profession earned him the respect and admiration of coworkers and guests alike.

Ricky was a huge sports fan and followed his teams with enthusiasm and pride. He especially loved University of Tennessee women's basketball, admired Pat Summitt, and was one of the biggest Chicago Bears fans there was. Beyond sports, Ricky had a deep love for animals, especially dogs, and found great joy in their companionship.

He is survived by his loving wife, Lorrie Kane; his stepdaughter, Rachel Glon; and his mother, Shirley Werntz. He was preceded in death by his father, Carl Kane.

In accordance with Ricky's wishes, cremation has taken place, and his family is honoring his request. There will be no services or visitation held at this time.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions in Ricky's memory be made to Pet Refuge of South Bend, an organization close to his heart.

Ricky will be remembered as a special man whose loyalty, kindness, humor, and love for those around him will never be forgotten
