Rick Leroy Nordheim passed away on November 6, 2025, at Benedictine Living Community in Crookston Minnesota.
Rick was born August 18th, 1962, in Thief River Falls, Minnesota to Al and Sandy Nordheim. Rick attended Erskine High School where he was a very talented athlete, playing football, basketball, softball, baseball, golf, and tennis. Rick graduated from Erskine High School in 1980. Rick attended Southwest State University in Marshall Minnesota 1980 to 1981, and in 1982 enlisted in the Army. He worked as a supply specialist and was stationed at Fort Ord, California and Germany during his years of service, ultimately being honorably discharged in January of 1992. Upon leaving the Army, Rick worked for Phoenix Industries, New Flyer, and finally, Crystal Sugar after which he moved back to Erskine, to care for his parents during his dad's battle with cancer.
Rick could often be found reading from his extensive collection of books, completing crossword puzzles, and caring for his dog Whiskey. A true music buff and longtime sports fan, he followed the Minnesota Vikings, NDSU football, the Minnesota Twins, and the Boston Celtics and once basketball came back to Minnesota, he followed the Timberwolves.
Rick is survived by his brother Rory (Kim) Nordheim and sister Ronell (Doug) Raney; Nieces Allison (Zach) Hilgendorf, Abigail Raney, Bailee (Austin) Audette, Alexsandra Raney, Morgan Nordheim, Angela Raney and his great niece Hazel; Aunts Shirley (Henry) Jensen and Sheila (Mark) Etzler and many cousins.
Rick is preceded in death by his parents, Al & Sandy Nordheim; grandparents Glenn & Gertrude Peterson, Ivel & Ardella Nordheim; Uncle Keith Peterson, Aunt Iris Krabbenhoft, Uncle Ivel (Sonny) Nordheim. Aunt Delores (Dodie) Cunningham, Uncle Henry (Woots) Jensen and beloved pet, Whiskey.
A private person throughout his life, there will be no service held, at Ricks request.
