Rick Price

A graveside service for Rick will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 12, 2023 at Dickinson Cemetery with Pastor Lisa Lewton officiating.

A celebration of life for Richard N. Price, 76, of Dickinson will be 4:00 p.m., Friday, December 30, 2022 at Stevenson Funeral Home in Dickinson with Pastor Lisa Lewton officiating.  A sharing of memories with friends will follow the service.

Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m., Friday, December 30th at Stevenson Funeral Home.

Rick passed away on December 14, 2022 after a brief stay at Country House in Dickinson. He courageously fought a battle with Alzheimer’s and pancreatic cancer.

Rick’s family would like to thank the caregivers at Country House and Hospice whose endless compassion is invaluable.

Richard N. Price was born on October 21, 1946 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Dickinson, North Dakota to David and Janet (Ottersen) Price. He grew up in Dickinson with his two older brothers, David and Gary, later graduating from Dickinson High School in 1964. After high school, Rick attended college in Dickinson and joined the National Guard. He proudly served his country for six years. 

On September 10, 1972, Rick married Deborah (Clausen) Price. Rick and Debbie were blessed with two sons, Reed and Colby. Rick and Debbie recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.

Rick was proud that he was able to carry on his father’s business that was established in 1953. Rick purchased the Dave Price Agency in 1980, and renamed it Price Agency Inc., which he owned and operated until his retirement in 2017. His son, Reed, is now the third generation owner.

Rick was blessed with the gift of sarcasm; he was witty and had a great sense of humor. He always enjoyed meeting his friends, whether it be at “happy hour” or morning coffee. He was an avid reader, particularly about World War II and Vietnam. Rick loved history and went back to get his degree in 2004. The game of golf was his favorite pastime and he played as often as he could. One particular highlight was traveling with friends to golf in Ireland. He was able to continue the “Price Tradition” by making a hole-in-one. Rick and Debbie were passionate about traveling. Rick had a love for geography and always had an atlas by his side. They took every opportunity to go on a trip, making memories together and with friends. Rick loved flying and was proud to obtain his private pilot’s license. Rick had an enthusiasm for life, from fishing in Alaska to hunting and backpacking with his buddies. Rick really enjoyed Corvettes, particularly taking trips to the Corvette Rally in Spearfish with friends and driving fast. Rick and Debbie were fortunate to spend several winters in Palm Springs and many summers camping.

Rick was a loving husband and father; he was proud of his two boys and loved spending time with his family. He was extremely proud of his grandchildren, Arley and Jack, and loved attending all of their events. He never wanted to miss a volleyball or baseball game and took advantage of any time he could spend with them.

Rick is survived by his wife of 50 years, Debbie; his goldendoodle, Holly; his two sons, Reed (Dana) Price and Colby (Toni) Price, both of Dickinson; two grandchildren, Arley and Jack Price; brother, David (Janis) Price; his children, Tracey Prough and Todd Price; brother, Gary (Karen) Price; and his children, Pam Sexton and Jennifer Russell.

Rick is preceded in death by his parents, David and Janet; and his nephew, Brian Price.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Country House, Dickinson.
