Dr. Rick Smart

Rick was my advisee, student, and Ski team member when I taught at Kents Hill in the 70's He and his fellow day students made the school academically, athletically and socially strong.
Rick always had a smile on his face, and loved learning. As an adult, Rick kept me and the family in eyeglasses, and many times we shared stories of our time at Kents Hill School. He will be sorely missed in the area, and will always be remembered for his good-natured spirit.

We grew up in Readfield and attended the same schools . He was always a good kid . Kind of lost track of him over the years but it sounds like he was a hard working and successful guy through out his life .

Dr. Smart was a kind and caring man. He was a wonderful teacher. He taught about eye care, life lessons and honesty. I'll remember Dr.Smart for his welcoming smile that put you at ease. Prayers and blessings.

He was a wonderful person. I always enjoyed my eye appointment visits with him. Being the same age we always exchanged adventure stories together. My sympathy to his beautiful family that he always spoke proudly about. He will be greatly missed.

A great loss. Dr. Smart was an amazing soul. I worked for him for about five years and grew to really respect the way he ran his clinics - his patients and staff alike loved him and for good reason. He stayed up on the latest technology (as his IT person at the time I can attest), he knew the most recent clinical information, and he would not rush his patients - always he would happily talk with them about a variety of subjects. His patients were number one with him. That was part of the reason I wanted to work for him. He made sure his clinicians were certified and he was all about ongoing education, but he wanted his staff to play as well - he gave us great benefits so we could spend time with our families. My very deepest sympathies to his beautiful wife and daughters.

So very sad & sorry for your loss. I have known Rick since I was in high school. I spent a lot of time at the Greene's with Nan & he loved to chat with us. I think of him fondly. He will be missed by many. Love & prayers. Dawn & Greg

So saddened to hear of Dr. Smart's passing. My husband and I were patients of his practice for many years. He always had good stories to share! Our heartfelt sympathies go out to the family at this difficult time.
