Rick Eugene Young, age 69, of Largo, Florida, passed away peacefully on November 15, 2025, surrounded by family. A devoted father of three and a friend to many, Rick brought humor, warmth, and an unmistakable spark to every room he entered. He had a true gift for making people laugh.
Born in Franklin, Pennsylvania, Rick was the son of Delores Yvonne Young (née Hutcheson) and Charles Norman Young. He spent his early years in Pennsylvania, where he enjoyed many formative days on his Uncle Dave's farm, a place that nurtured his love of the outdoors and taught him the value of hard work and simple country living. He later grew up in Mentor, Ohio, where he attended school and formed many lifelong friendships.
Rick built a successful career as the owner and operator of Reyco, which he led for more than 30 years with dedication, pride, and a strong work ethic. He had a remarkable ability to lead by example, and many of the people who worked for him over the years went on to grow, advance, and build successful careers of their own. That impact, and the relationships he fostered along the way, stand as a testament to his guidance, leadership, and belief in others.
Outside of work, Rick was known for his quick wit, his ability to connect effortlessly with people, and the joy he took in being surrounded by family and friends. He especially loved the freedom of the open road, spending countless hours riding his Harley. Rick was also an avid hunter, enjoyed golfing whenever he had the chance, and cherished time spent outdoors. In addition to these passions, he was a dedicated collector of guns and machine guns, an interest he took great pride in and pursued with deep enthusiasm throughout his life.
Rick shared a lifelong bond with his beloved sister Lacinda "Cindy" Cupp, who preceded him in death. He was also exceptionally close with his brother-in-law and dear friend Jack Cupp, who was both family and a lifelong companion through many chapters of Rick's life.
Rick is survived by his three children Michelle Amato (née Young, Jeff), Steven Young (Natalie), and Jeffrey Young (Hannah), and by his cherished grandchildren Harper Young (6) and River Young (2). He is also remembered by Patricia Mulford, the mother of his children, with whom he shared many years of family life. In addition, he is survived by his close nephew John Cupp (Cami) and niece Jeanette Cook (née Cupp, Brian), who each held a special place in his heart.
He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Delores, and his sister Cindy, all of whom he remembered with deep love.
A celebration of Rick's life will be held in both Florida and Ohio. The family is tentatively planning a Celebration of Life in Florida in February 2026, with an Ohio Celebration of Life to follow in early Summer 2026, allowing friends and family across the miles to gather, share stories, and honor his memory.
Rick will be laid to rest at Lupher Chapel Cemetery in Franklin, Pennsylvania, alongside his mother, father, and sister.
Rick will be remembered for his humor, his kindness, his adventurous spirit, and the way he made people feel seen and welcomed. His legacy lives on in his children, grandchildren, and all who were fortunate enough to know him.
