Ricknauth Jaggernauth Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 18, 2001.
Happy to Be a Grandfather
Every day when he came home to Brooklyn from his construction job, Ricknauth Jaggernauth would grab a beer and sit in his front yard, and play with his grandchildren and other neighborhood children until it was time for dinner. "My father was a happy, loving, giving man," said his daughter Anita, 31. "He loved to talk to young people about their lives and about how important it was to get a good education."

He would have only one or two beers, but his wife, Joyce, teased him and called him "drunkie grandpa," a nickname the children used for him. He came here from Guyana 19 years ago, and worked for a company that was renovating offices in the World Trade Center. The day it was attacked, they were working on the 104th floor of the first tower.

Mr. Jaggernauth, 58, planned to retire in two years and wanted to visit his homeland. He had five children and three grandchildren, and all lived together in the family's two-story house on Pennsylvania Avenue. His daughter said that if his body is recovered, the family will have a traditional Hindu funeral for him. "It's what he did for his own mother," she said.

I remember all the bbqs he would have and receive all of us neighborhood kids with open arms. We had the freshest curry goat ever cause he walked it off the truck and prepared it on the spot. My kids never met rick but they know of him threw my words of him being a family man and a hard worker. Lessons like that will assure us that his memory will live forever.

Rip uncle rick no matter what is going through our lives we will never forget you I know you will guide me through this rough time in Houston with hurricane Harvey but you will always be part of my family's life. I know my mom and you will guide us to the moon and back. I cherish all the stories and pictures you told us and I have of you, it means so much since I got older and been through so many experiences. Life is truly a journey and I'm riding it the way it was taught to me never give up don't stop the fight in you.

Rick,
I still have your picture in my office!
You were a good man! You loved your family and friends, always worked hard, and you were always there to give the guy in need a hand! We had so many laughs… I learned from you that even with an ax, you can build fine furniture.
I will always cherish all the time we spent working together! What a great example to all of us! You were part of our American Dream. I miss you!
Thanks Rick! God bless your soul!

Uncle Rick we missed you immensely and your memories shall always be immortal for all generations. I wrote a song called "I will love you forever" and dedicated it to you. Through this song, may the heartache lessen for all those who knew you and may be remembered in a special way.

God saw you getting tired & a cure was not to be so He put His arms around you & whispered "Come To Me" With tearful eyes we watched you & saw you pass away. Although we loved you dearly we could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating. Hard working hands at rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us He only take the best. I love you & miss you Uncle.

I was a supervisor and worked with Ricky for several years. He was a hardworking and honest man. I have fond memories of Ricky. He actually introduced me to horse meat without me knowing that I was eating it. He told me after I finished eating it. Everyone was making fun of me. He said, Did you like the horse? I said, what! That was horse meat? Ahhh!!

When I heard of Rickies fate, it was several years after it happened. I was in shock and could not believe it. Rick was my friend. My heart went out to his wife and kids and still does.
Ricky, I love you and will never forget you.

He was a wonderful uncle. It's a shame his life was cut short so soon. The last time I saw my uncle it was April 2001 at a wedding. We had wonderful time dancing. I cannot believe he is gone it's like a nightmare. We really missed him. May his soul rest in peace.

We are very sorry for your loss of Ricknauth. May his life and love live on in those who love him. Our hearts cry with you.

America Cries

We see your sorrow-

and our hearts cry....

We can not erase your pain

but you do not have to face the anguish alone-for we-

-the American people-

are beside you.

We so desperately want to have the touch that brings you comfort,

the strength that gives you courage,

and the words to lighten your spirits.

And when we are left speechless

may the silence of our nation weave love into your hearts

to ease your sorrow.

May you find healing through our nation's strength as we-

-the American people-

face this difficult time together. Our hearts are with you. Teresa Jahn
