Rick was born September 19, 1959, in Billings, Montana, to Richard “Dick” and Virginia “Ginni” Ann (Buechler) Cox. He graduated from Gering High School.
He married Tracie Lease on September 29, 1979, and to this union came their son, Jeff. He was later united in marriage to Lorrie Sue Nickelson-Nickal in September of 1998. Rick welcomed her two children, Gary and Jamie, and the couple had a son of their own, Matthew.
Rick worked many jobs throughout his lifetime including the Classic Lanes Bowling Alley, The Lot, the Liquor Cabinet, and for the United States Postal Service. He also worked as a mechanic for some time. Rick’s experience in the automotive industry led him to a career at NAPA Auto Parts where he was employed at the time of his passing.
Rick was a music lover and enjoyed listening to Fleetwood Mac, Def Leppard, and just about any classic rock. He and Lorrie frequently took pleasure in a night of bowling. He was pretty good too, having bowled a perfect game during league play at Classic Lanes. Rick liked watching NASCAR, cheering for the Broncos or the Huskers, and attending car shows. He also adored Husky dogs and owned several throughout his life.
Survivors include his sons, Jeff (Alicia) and Matthew; stepchildren, Gary and Jamie (Carlos); brother, Guy (Deb); niece, Alissa (David); nephews, Ian (Erin), Landon, and Larry (Jamie); grandchildren, Charlie, Harlie, Alex, Kameryn, Calvin, and Oliver; along with several extended family members and friends.
