Ricky Dale Layton, age 64, of Houston, Texas, passed away on October 26, 2025, in his hometown. Born on March 23, 1961, to Joel Layton and Carolyn McAllister, Ricky was a proud Houston native whose warmth and energy touched everyone around him.
Ricky worked as a mechanic for 49 years at U-Haul, Steward & Steveson and Briggs Equipment, where his dedication and friendly spirit made a lasting impression on both colleagues and customers.
Outside of work, he was passionate about his Dallas Cowboys, his community and coaching little league sports. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, riding his motorcycles, camping and doing road trips.
He is survived by his loving wife, Lora Layton, of 45 years, his brothers, Joey Layton and Robby Layton and his sisters Judy Johnson, Michelle Gainey, and Bobbie Jean Bejester, Son Ricky Layton II and wife Stephanie, Son Randy Layton and wife Felicia and son Ryan Layton and his wife Bradi. Ricky was a proud "Pawpaw" to his grandkids - Luke, Elijah, Cheyenne, Ryker, Rylynn, Rinley, Blaine, and Daxton. He loved every moment spent with them, whether it was telling stories, fixing something, playing catch or loading hits into baseball bats.
Ricky will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him, but his spirit - full of strength, love, and a touch of mischief - will ride on forever.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Ricky's life on November 3, 2025, at Crosby Church located at 5725 US Hwy 90, where visitation and funeral services will be held with Paster Keenan officiating.
Visitation: 10:30 A.M.
Funeral Service: 12:30 P.M.
Graveside Service at San Jacinto Cemetery, located at 14659 East Fwy, Houston, Tx 77015 started at 2:30 P. M. with prayer and words with Pastor Mark Wells.
