Being a caregiver I have seen many uncommonly challenged people dealing with a wide array of difficult life-changing circumstances and I can honestly say that I've never met a more well adjusted and joyful person than Rick. His ability to always keep everything in its proper perspective paired with his unique brand of unconditional love has left a mark on my heart that will always be felt. What a gift and blessing our Father in heaven gave me when He brought Rick and his exceptional family into my life!
I will also never forget the first time we began our first neighborhood walk.
As I started pushing him In his wheelchair down the road I said "Well Rick, this is the day the Lord has made" and before I could finish the phrase he quickly and boldly replied "let us rejoice and be glad in it!" I was truly blown away! That was when I first knew this was a special person. That was Just one of the many wonderful surprises Rick had up his sleeve for me.
I will miss my walks with my friend, but I also KNOW there will be more.
