Ricky Romero Jr, 73 of Amarillo, TX passed away Thursday, December 11, 2025.

Due to the holidays, there will not be a memorial service at this time.

Ricky was born in San Bernardino, CA, to Ricky Sr and Stella Romero. The second of six children. His early childhood was spent running with siblings and cousins around his Grandmothers house. The family moved from California to Amarillo in 1960. Which started the Romero wrestling dynasty. Rick spent his later childhood years traveling with his father and learning the "ropes". It was once said by Terry Funk, "Rick was the best of all the brothers". But he took a different path, instead, building a life and raising his family in Amarillo. He still put on the tights at times and later in life would be seen refereeing. The legacy lives on in his son, Rick, and his grandson, Ramsey. And his love of art and the beauty of nature lives on in his son Shane and grandson Henry. But his heart belonged to the mountains of southwest Colorado. Where he spent years fishing, hiking, and raising his boys. He loved his boys with everything he had, and his grandsons were the light in his eye.

Rick is survived by his two sons, Rick IV and Shane Romero. His three grandsons, Ramsey, Henry, and River Romero. Sister, Lon Dodgen, and brother Mark Romero. Many cousins, nieces, and nephews. The mother of his boys, Stephanie Birkhead and the mothers of his grandsons, McKenzie Meade and Brittney Hamilton. Whom he loved each and every one dearly. He is also survived by many many friends. Rick never met a stranger, and if he called you a friend, that was a big win. He was a very loyal and loving friend who would always be willing to help with whatever problem you had. He would give his last just to help someone in need. Rick touched many lives and in return they touched his.

We couldn't have asked for a better father, brother or friend. Rick will be missed every day. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved him.

The family would love to hear any memories or thoughts you have of Rick.
