LANCASTER - Rilee Kathryn Schmidt, age 14, passed away on August 3, 2024, in Beaver Dam, WI. She was born on April 29, 2010, to Les and Stacey (Snider) Schmidt. From day one, she lived with many medical complications, but she was always resilient. Rilee was about to enter her final year at Lancaster Middle School. Some of Rilee’s favorite activities were blasting music on her communication device to annoy her sisters and watching her dad and sisters play softball. Traveling was also a big part of her life. She spent time visiting various states and even venturing as far as Scotland and St. Thomas, USVI. Many will remember her contagious laugh and bright smile.
Rilee is survived by her parents: Les and Stacey Schmidt; silly sisters Claire and Isabelle; pets Layla, Blake, Rex, and Edi. Great grandma Elaine Mueller and grandparents: Dean and Mary Schmidt, Linda Schildgen, Cal (Lisa Ellis) Snider. Uncles Jesse (Jennifer Munson) Schmidt, Brian Snider and Aunts Cheryl (Troy) Evans, Brenda Snider, and Nicki (Stan) Updike. Cousins: Jayda Schmidt, David, Brandon, and Christopher Snider, Emily Griffin, Liz Potter, Amanda and Rebecca Evans, Austin and Carli Jerrett, Camryn, Clayton, and Carson Updike. Along with many extended family members.
Rilee is preceded in death by her great grandparents: Donald and Avery Schmidt, Allen Mueller, Firmin and Kathryn Schildgen, Clinton and Betty Snider; dogs Reese and Nora; cats Oliver, Lilly, and Wanda.
She will be remembered by many doctors, nurses, Lancaster community school staff, friends, and classmates.
A public visitation will be held on Sunday, August 11, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Martin Schwartz Funeral Home and Crematory in Lancaster. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Ronald McDonald House in Madison, WI, and Ronald McDonald House Eastern Iowa Location in Iowa City in Memory of Rilee Schmidt. A private family service will be held at Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory. Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Lancaster is assisting the family.
