Riley Wayne McCoy

A beautiful young man, Riley Wayne McCoy from Mishawaka, IN, with a big smile and an infectious laugh, was taken from his family much too soon at the young age of 34. Riley was born on May 4, 1991, and passed away unexpectedly on November 11, 2025.
Riley is survived by his parents, Meredith McCoy and Phillip Sterry, Sr., of Mishawaka, IN, along with his sisters, Olivia Sterry, Kara Sterry, Melissa Sterry, and Chelsea Sterry, his brother Phillip Sterry, Jr., and several cousins, as well as his niece and nephew, whom he adored. Riley was preceded in death by three cousins, Zach McCoy, Tyler McCoy, and Amado Sterry. May they all rest in peace, in Heaven, in God's loving Grace.
Riley loved his family and would always defend his friends to the end. He was loved by many and will be missed by many more than he could have ever imagined. Riley was athletic, artistic, a tattoo artist, and a handyman. He played the drums and guitar, enjoyed cooking, and was eager to help in the garden and with yard work. He enjoyed rollerblading and skateboarding as a young boy and teen and was fearless from a young age. Riley was an avid swimmer and loved doing back flips off the diving board.
He enjoyed science, watching sci-fi movies and documentaries, and discussing them with his mom. Riley was a pet lover; he had dogs, cats, lizards, and fish over the years, and his current cat will surely miss his buddy. His mom will miss talking to him about movies and music, and so much more. He liked to clown around to make people laugh. Riley had a good, kind heart and will be missed by all who knew him.
A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, November 20, at 4:00 p.m. at the Palmer Funeral Home – Bubb Chapel, located at 3910 N. Main Street, Mishawaka. A visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until the service at 6:00 p.m.
