Riley Loyd "RL" Oaks, 87 of Elk City, Oklahoma was born on July 23, 1938, in Elk City, Oklahoma to Loyd and Marguerite (Davis) Oaks. RL looked upon the face of his Lord and Savior on Monday, September 29, 2025, at Elk City Nursing Home in Elk City, Oklahoma surrounded by his loving family.

By the age of thirteen years, RL had lost both of his parents and acquired the family farm. He was then raised by his Uncle Clarence Oaks. RL lived on the family farm in Canute, Oklahoma until the Fall of 2014. He was a proud owner of three Centennial Farms, owned by the Oaks Family, for over one hundred years.

RL married the love of his life, Joyce LaVerne Twyman on November 8, 1957, at Arapaho, Oklahoma. Together they made their home in the Canute, Oklahoma area, and spent fifty-three wonderful years of marriage together and raised two daughters, Sherry and Beth.

RL raised cotton and wheat, and ran a few cattle, which later turned into his cattle operation. He enjoyed attending his daughter's stock shows and activities and being involved in his grandchildren and great grandchildren's lives. RL was employed by Beck & Root Propane, Canute, Oklahoma for several years. He also drove a truck hauling cattle, and wheat during harvest time.

RL enjoyed camping and going to the lake with friends. He also liked playing dominoes, cards, and driving his gater around checking cattle on the farm. He served on the Canute School Board, Canute, Oklahoma for eight years.

RL treasured spending time and visiting with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, and friends, he will be deeply missed and greatly remembered by all who knew and loved him.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, October 2, 2025 at Martin-Dugger Funeral Home Chapel, Elk City, Oklahoma. Larry McConnell will officiate.
