Rita Alberts nee Sedlack died Saturday September 20th, 2025 at home. Rita was born to Sophie Sedlack on March 20, 1936 in Chicago IL. She was adopted by Charles A Sedlack along with her two sisters and twin brother in 1940. Rita grew up in the back of the yards neighborhood on the south side of Chicago. Rita graduated from high school and took some classes at DePaul University but didn't finish her degree due to the sudden death of her adopted father. In 1957, Rita married John Alberts and they continued to live in Chicago. In the early years of their marriage Rita and John enjoyed traveling and being on the same co ed bowling team. In the middle 1960s the couple moved to Niles Illinois where they welcomed their only child, Sheri. Living with family they sold and moved out of their 3 flat in Niles and moved to Des Plaines IL. Rita and John stayed 33 years in Des Plaines and were parishioners of St Emily Catholic Church in Mount Prospect. Rita worked as a secretary for Kimball roofing company and UOP/ Honeywell both in Des Plaines IL. Rita and John moved to Lake in the Hills in 2004 to be close to their daughter. When Rita's only granddaughter was born in 2005 she babysat her. John died in 2008 and Rita continued to spend time with her granddaughter, Rebekah. In 2018, Rita moved in with Sheri, Rebekah and Sheri's fiancee Michael in Algonquin. Rita is survived by her daughter, Sheri (Michael) Sim, Rebekah Wildheart, neice Karen Adams and nephew Gary (Nicole) Adams, nephew Paul Lenart. As well as great nieces and nephews. Visitation is Thursday September 25, 2025 from 930 am to 1030 am with mass to follow at St Emily Catholic Church 1400 E Central Road Mount Prospect IL 60056. The Interment will immediately follow at All Saints Catholic Cemetery 700 N. River Rd., DesPlaines, IL 60016. Arrangements have been entrusted to Matz Mt. Prospect Funeral Chapel, 410 E. Rand Rd. Mt. Prospect, IL 60056 (847) 394-2336.
