Rita Ann Weigert

Rita Ann (Orzepowski) Weigert, age 88, of Greene Township, passed away on Saturday, January 13, 2024. Born in Erie, PA on June 28, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Eugenia F. Orzepowski.

Rita married Richard M. Weigert on August 18, 1962, in Waterford, PA. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Art Education from Edinboro State College. Rita taught art in the Fort LeBoeuf School District before starting a family. She was a long-time member of St. Cyprian's and later on, Our Lady of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church where she helped out at Lenten dinners. She was actively involved with the Waterford High School Class of 1954 alumni events. Rita enjoyed reading, genealogy, playing cards, doing word search puzzles and loved all animals, especially her cats.

She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Richard M. Weigert and their children: Rebecca Weiser (Fred), Renee Terwilliger, Rachel Ristau (Paul), Richard J. Weigert (Denise) and Rhonda Smith (Erik). She is further survived by her grandchildren: Steven Ristau, Rebeckah DelSignore, Brian Ristau, Ben Terwilliger, Rumer Habib, Tim Ristau, Conrad Weiser, David Terwilliger, Bryson Weiser, Andy Terwilliger and Hailey Smith.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in Phillipsville Union Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Erie County Humane Society, 2407 Zimmerly Road Erie, PA 16506.
