Rita Beckman

Rita Jane (Loiselle) Beckman, of Grand Marais, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on January 8, 2026, at the age of 81.

Rita was preceded in death by her parents, Cornelius and Kay Loiselle; brother, Cornelius "Connie" Loiselle; sister, Mardi Loiselle; and former husband, Tom Beckman.

She is survived by brother Daniel Loiselle; beloved children, Scott Beckman (Gina), Bret Beckman (Tammy), and Elizabeth Beckman; her cherished grandchildren, Grey, Brittany Abi Saab (Jean), Justin, Macy, Gabby, and Peyton; her adored great-granddaughter, Gracie, with another on the way; and many nieces and nephews.

Rita was incredibly special to everyone who knew her. Petite in stature but towering in spirit, Rita carried herself with a sweet, gentle grace that felt just like a warm hug. Her eyes twinkled and her smile lit up the room. And those dimples of hers were legendary.

For more than 20 years, Rita owned, operated, and lovingly curated her yarn shop in Grand Marais. That Little Red House radiated a refined yet welcoming aesthetic with just the right touch of rustic charm. Every detail was a reflection of Rita's thoughtful eye and impeccable taste. Grand Marais will feel much less magical without it.

Throughout her life, Rita called Duluth, Plymouth, Hovland, and Grand Marais home. She found immense joy in the beauty of her beloved North Shore. Above all else, Rita will be remembered for her hopeful spirit and her fierce love of family.

Services and a celebration of life will be held in Duluth, MN at a later date.
