Obituary
With profound sadness we announce the passing of our loving and devoted mother. Rita (McNerney) Comunale, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her children and grandchildren on March 17, 2023; at the age of 91.
She was born in New York, NY; a longtime resident of the Bronx, NY and later a resident of Fishkill, NY.
She was preceded in death by her beloved son Walter Thomas Goring. She was the last surviving sibling of Margaret (Peggy) Rudowich, Michael (Buddy) McNerney, Mary (Maddie) McNerney, James (Jimmy) McNerney, John (Jackie) McNerney, Donald (Donnie) McNerney, Eileen Hiller, and William (Billy) Hiller.
Rita is survived by her five children and their wives and husbands; JoAnn and Paul Jones, Richard Goring, John and Rosanne Goring, Eileen and Mark Engel, Dan and Ann Comunale; plus twelve grandchildren, seven great grandchildren with two on the way and her many nieces and nephews. All of whom she loved and touched deeply.
Rita was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved her role as "Nanny". She had a vivacious personality and always made people around her laugh. She made friends everywhere she went.
Rita was a devout Catholic, and was a parishioner of St. Mary's in Fishkill, NY. Rita will be missed terribly but will always be in our hearts and minds.
Her Family & Friends will gather on Tuesday, March 21st from 4-8pm at the LIBBY FUNERAL HOME, 55 Teller Avenue, Beacon, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered 10AM, Wednesday, March 22nd at St. Mary, Mother of the Church, 106 Jackson Street, Fishkill, followed by entombment at the Fishkill Rural Cemetery Mausoleum, 801 Route 9, Fishkill, NY.
