Rita Dawson Obituary
Rita Irene Dawson passed away on March 6, 2026. She was born August 12, 1936 in Windsor, Ontario, Canada to Edward A. Topp and Frances Rita Covoulion. Rita has been a resident of Okeechobee for over 50 plus years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Okeechobee, Okeechobee Rotary, and Society of American Magicians. Rita loved to travel and assist with her husband's magic shows, nature, the Lord, and enjoyed spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Ron Dawson; parents, Edward A. Topp and Frances Rita Covoulion; and twin sister, Leta Coates.
She is survived by her son, Scott Dawson (Michelle) of Okeechobee, Florida and Dan Brookhouse (Brenda) of Trenton, Ontario; niece, Patsy Ricci; grandchildren, Pyke Dawson, Joel Brookhouse, and Ryan Brookhouse; and five great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until service at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 16, 2026 at the Buxton Okeechobee Funeral Home. Those wishing to leave a message of condolence may sign the register book at, www.OkeechobeeFuneralHome.com.
All arrangements are entrusted to the direction and care of the Buxton Okeechobee Funeral Home, 400 North Parrott Avenue, Okeechobee, Florida, 34972.
