Rita Joy Marks, 95, of Svensen, Oregon, passed away at home on December 23, 2025.
Rita was born on September 19, 1930, to Arnold and Louise Alberts near Dodge, Minnesota. In 1945, her family moved to the Springfield, Oregon, area, where she graduated from Springfield High School and later attended the Open Bible Standard Institute in Eugene.
She was 20 years old when she married Glenn Marks of Eugene. The marriage lasted for 70 years, until his passing in 2021.
Rita is survived by two siblings and their spouses, Daryl and Marilyn Alberts, of Henderson, Nevada, and Nila and Ellis Toftdahl, of Sweet Home, Oregon; her children, Ron, of Svensen, along with his wife, Pam; Duane, of Portland, along with his wife, Robin; Sandi, of Svensen, and daughter-in-law, Jeannine, of Salem: 14 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchilden.
Preceding her into Eternity, besides her husband, were her youngest son, Robert (Bob), and son-in-law Carl.
During their 70 years of marriage, Rita was a solid support and participant in their pastoring of churches in Dufer, twice at Knappa, for a number of years at Astoria First Assembly, and in an interim position in Westport.
A memorial service is planned for Saturday, January 2026, at 2:00 pm, Astoria First Assembly of God. 1775 7th Street, Astoria, Oregon.
