Rita Martinez (née Reyes), age 72, of Blue Island, passed from this life on September 27, 2025. Rita was born on January 7, 1953, in Corpus Christi, Texas, to the late Felipe and the late Isdria Reyes.

Rita was the beloved wife of Rafael Martinez; they were united in marriage for over 35 wonderful years. She is the cherished mother of Liesel Martinez and Aylla (Crystian) Orozco, and the proud grandmother of Arianna Orozco and Rafael Orozco.

Rita was preceded in death by her siblings: Francisca Young, Felipe Reyes, Pedro Reyes, Roberto Reyes, and Geronimo Reyes. She was a dear aunt to many nieces and nephews and leaves behind a large circle of friends and extended family.

Rita was a woman of immense creativity and talent. Known for her exceptional crafting skills, she lovingly handmade clothes, costumes, and decorations that brought joy and personal touches to every special occasion. She showcased and sold her creations at many local craft shows. She had a love for flowers and a passion for style-Rita was a truly "fancy" woman, always put together with elegance and grace.

More than anything, Rita was deeply loved by all who knew her, especially her grandchildren, who adored her. She was a wise, compassionate woman who was often sought out for her advice and perspective. Her warmth, creativity, and kind spirit left a lasting impression on everyone she met. Her memories will live on in the hearts of those who loved her.

Visitation for Rita will be held on Friday, October 3rd from 3:00 PM until the time of funeral service at 7:00 PM at Krueger Funeral Home, 13050 Greenwood Avenue, Blue Island.
